Mid Year Book Freakout Tag

It’s been over ‘Mid Year’ but I really wanted to do this tag. This tag was created by Eli and Chami. You can check out their videos here and here. You’re all welcome to do this tag. So let’s get started with the questions!

Ques 1 : What’s the best book you’ve read in 2017?

It’s very hard to choose any one book because I’ve read a few books this year which were a solid 5 starer! But I’d say that ILLUMINAE by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff was the first best book I read this year. I have a review up for this book if you’d like to read it. You can check it out HERE.

Ques 2: Best sequel you’ve read in 2017.

It was hands down GEMINA by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. It was as good as Illuminae. You can read the review of  Gemina – Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff.

Ques 3: New release you haven’t read yet but want to.

I want to read When Dimple met Rishi by Sandhya Menon. Although it hasn’t released in India yet but I’ve seen and heard about this book so much that I really want to read it. There are nothing but good reviews about it.

Ques 4: Most anticipated release for the second half of this year.

I’m really looking forward to the release of Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff because I’m holding on reading Nevernight for this. I want both the books with me when I start reading it. Such good reviews of Nevernight has made it very hard for me to not read this one.

Ques 5 : Biggest disappointment of the year.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber. I had really high expectations for this book but I didn’t like it as much. The world was a little confusing for me and sadly, I felt that the whole story stood on the pillars of stupidity of the characters.

Ques 6: The most surprising book this year.

Made You Up by Franseca Zapia. I’m in love with Zapia’s writing after reading this book. I had no expectations from this one but it was a delight reading this book. I loved every bit of this book. I have a detailed review of this one. Made You Up – Francesca Zappia.

Ques 7: Favorite new author.

Anuja Chauhan. I had not read any of her books before but after reading Baaz, she’s one of my favorites now! I want to read all of her work. Do check out the review to feel my excitement for this one. Baaz – Anuja Chauhan.

Ques 8: Newest fictional crush.

Can I say two? Please? Ishaan from Baaz by Anuja Chauhan and Kaz from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. Yes, I finally read Six of Crows and I loved Kaz because he’s amazing. You guys probably already know it.

Ques 9: Newest favorite character.

Tehemia from Baaz (Yes I loved that book that much) and Alex from Made You Up. I promise you that you’d fall in love with these characters too if you read these books. And when you do, do let me know; I’d love to discuss them!

Ques 10: A book that made you cry.

My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult. Oh dear God! I’ve never cried so much.My Sister’s Keeper – Jodi Picoult is heartbreakingly beautiful. I would really recommend it but be prepared to cry buckets of tears.

Ques 11: A book that made you happy.

Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls. I read this book yesterday and everyone needs this book in their life. EVERYONE. It contains 100 stories of 100 amazing women from all over the world; containing beautiful art work, this book is a must read. I wonder why we didn’t have books like these in our childhood.

Ques 12: A favorite book to movie adaptation you saw this year.

Is it okay if I say none? Because there is not even a single book to movie adaptation I liked which I saw this year. Although I haven’t seen Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children which I had initially planned to. May be I’ll like that.

Ques 13: Favourite review you posted this year.

I’m very proud of the Character Discussion: Empire of Storms. I have a review of it posted separately if you want to read it, but if you’ve read the book, you should most definitely check out the character discussion which I posted.

Ques 14: Most beautiful book you bought so far this year.

Six of Crows is very beautiful but I was gifted that book so I’d say Caraval by Stephanie Garber. I have the U.K. Hardback edition and it’s gorgeous. I got the dress!

Ques 15: What books you need to read by the end of this year.

There are many I want to read and I’m sure there will be various other I’d want over the course of this year. Although I wish to finish reading This Savage Song and Our Dark Duet by the end of the coming week.

That’s it! I finally did this tag after procrastinating for over a month. Let me know if you’ve read any of the books I mentioned or if you plan to read them.

Happy Reading! 🙂

Wonderful books you mention here! Have you gotten to read When Dimple Met Rishi yet??? I absolutely fell in love with the couple – they were so adorable and this book is so unique in that it traverses several themes and gives an inside peak to Indian culture!
Anyway, I look forward to more of your posts in the future… Happy Reading! 🙂
